Amazing color use

The other day I was checking in to some of my Facebook groups and found such a pretty surprise. Beth P., an amazing crochet artist from Australia was showing off pictures of a stunning chevron blanket she made for her daughter’s boyfriend. I just had to share it with you! So I checked with her, and she said she would be happy to allow me to share her photos of her amazing creation with you. I did ask her if … Read more

Joseph’s Puff Stitch Blanket

Here is a fun puff stitch pattern I designed for a baby blanket for a friend of mine. I have used modern baby boy colors in Lion Brand Vanna’s Choice yarn, but you can use whatever colors make you happy! By working the puff stitches around the posts of the row below, they create little polka dots that drop down into the previous color. The texture of the little dots are fun for little fingers as well!

I AM In Love With Color!

What a lovely day this has been so far! After sleeping in until 8:30 (yes, that is sleeping in for me), I had some breakfast and went to get to work on some new patterns. I opened up my laptop and noticed I had some messages on Ravelry. They were comments on a new pattern of mine. A pattern I had not put up. I was pleasantly surprised to see that not only had Red Heart posted one of the … Read more

Faded Ripple ~ Free Crochet Pattern

This ripple pattern puts a new twist on a classic afghan crochet pattern. This stitch pattern works for afghans/throws, or wraps, or scarves, or a variety of other projects. Faded ripple is a great stitch to use with stripes, as it gives a pretty detail to color changes. It can be used with just about any size yarn and the coordinating hook. I do not recommend novelty yarns, as the textures of the yarn can make the stitches difficult or just take away from the look of the stitch pattern.

Crochet Faster!

My mother is here visiting! Those of you who have been reading my blog for a while may remember that my mother works for DoDEA (Department of Defense Education Activity); basically, she teaches the children of enlisted personel and other personel on military bases around the world. Currently, she is stationed in Germany. This means my parents only make it back to the States over the summer, and I only get to see them for a short amount of that … Read more

Ready to Give Hope ~ 371 times!

We have finally finished opening the last of the Project 19 boxes. Those boxes kept coming all the way into February, and I wanted to wait to show you the final pile ‘o hope until they were all here and opened and hugged. Here is the tiniest package of hope that we received, and its inhabitant. Isn’t she the cutest? Kyla was very excited about the Rainbow Unicorn!! We had been in contact with the Boys and Girls clubs of Hobokin … Read more

New things to come…

Tuesday and Thursday of last week were parent/teacher conferences at the girls’ school. This meant half days of school and lots more time at home.

Creative-time

Being creative little ones, they decided craft time was in order.

Not quite what I wanted, but it will work

I started writing a wrap pattern at the beginning of October. It was beautiful in my head. Somewhere in the initial planning/math stages, something went awry. I think I tried to do too much. The pretty little picture was much more simple then what happened as I started writing.

So much to do, so little time

Honestly, since I left the theater, I don’t think I’ve understood this phrase as much as I do right now. Somehow I have forgotten how many hours there are in a day and have just taken on a bit too much. I guess that is the downfall of finally having a handle on my MDD for the first time in quite a few years. Guess I will have to learn about restraint again. ;^) So much to do!

On top of the WiPs I had already going on, a few weeks ago my sister~in~law called to say there would be a baby show for our niece on the 9th (last weekend). That’s right, do the math, I’m going to be a great aunt. Our niece’s mother is Doug’s older sister from his father’s first marriage, so I don’t feel quite as old, but it is still a bit of an odd feeling. Then again, I have an uncle who is 5 months younger then me, so I guess I should just chill a bit.
