Have you heard of Bijou Basin Ranch? They are a small family owned and operated yak ranch in the Colorado outback, and they use those yak to create awesome yarn!

Once they have produced their yarn, many are hand-dyed with care by the color experts at Lorna’s Laces in Chicago, IL. They also team up with other dyers. They currently have some beautiful gradients that have been dyed by ModeKnit Yarn, you can see them HERE.
You can find Bijou Basin yarn and fibers at many local yarn shops, on their website, and there is even some on Amazon, HERE! As you can see in the image at the top of this post, I played with some of their yarn. I used the Himalayan Trail, 75% Yak Down/25% Super Fine Merino to make the bracelet in the photo. This yarn would be great for high quality needlepoint as well. I enjoyed working with it, it’s soft, and the plies hold together nicely – it’s not splitty.
