Craft Hope Project 9 ~ ConKerr Cancer

I have finished up the pillowcases for Craft Hope Project 9. All the pillowcases are being donated to pediatric cancer patients. This way each child will have something special to make them feel a little more comfortable and loved.

This pillowcase is made from the strips I had left after making the solid cases.

I found a Superman panel and made it into two cases. Here is the front of the first.

The back of both (this one had a black boarder on the open end, the other had a blue.)

Here is one side of a case I made with all the scraps from the others, and some additional cotton scraps I had lying about. Unfortunately for this project, the vast majority of my fabric stash is linen or Medieval appropriate heavy prints. Neither is useful for pillowcases.

Here is the other side of the scrap pieces case. Do you recognize some of the prints from the quilt squares I made for Janice? I am sad to say that right around the time I posted the pictures of the squares I sent for her quilt, she succumbed to cancer. Rose, our amazing friend who organized the quilt project, had put the quilt front together and did have the chance to bring it to Janice before she passed. I like to think it brought her some peace and love in her final moments. I have been holding onto every little scrap from those squares, unable to use them in any other projects. This one seemed like the right project for those little pieces. It just felt right.

I cut four rectangles each of four of the kiddie prints to make this case.

Here is a stack of all the solid cases. The main parts are one of the prints I bought, and then they each have a solid boarder at the opening.

All stacked up with “love and care” labels, ready to be taken to the drop off point on Thursday.

One more Craft Hope project done, ten more lives to be touched. I can’t wait for the next one. In the mean time, I have plenty of unfinished projects here that I need to work on before I can start anything new.

Remember to be kind to someone today.
