Studio Update

Hello my friends! The never~ending renovation to my basement studio is moving along. Here is a little reminder of where this all started.

The yarn storage wall is still in limbo. I hope to finish it up this week. I had to take a break from it because I REALLY needed to get back down here and start getting my “stuff” cleaned and put away. The Unicorn Fibre products are doing a spectacular job getting the yarn and finished items cleaned up, however, I had to take a break from cleaning until I had a place to put everything! I seem to have issues doing things in the right order…

Here are some photos of some of the progress on the main part of my studio.

Starting-to-look-like-a-room

We put up some paneling to cover the furring strips and cheap insulation. The walls will still need to be finished properly one day, but at least they look better now. The ceiling just has fabric stapled up, but it’s a million times better than the joists with the miles of wires and pipes everywhere. We sealed and painted the floor, then tossed some inexpensive carpet down. I have more to go along in front of my yarn storage wall, and to line the stairs. I wanted gray, but they were out. I’m really glad they were, because I love this blue and I think the room really needed the color.

I bought a slipcover for the loveseat (which has been vacuumed a couple times since the soot incident) but

This will be mostly photos tonight. It is after 1am (hey, happy 8th anniversary to Doug & me!) I just want to show you what I have been up to lately.

First, here are some snaps from a trip to Target we made the other day. The girls were having fun as you can see. *as always, if you hover your mouse over the photos, a little description will come up*

Not-sure-what-they-are

What do you mean it’s Friday? And May?!

How did that happen? I swear someone stole like 3 days from this week…and a week from last month! Oh, well, here are some snaps I have taken over the last week or so. The magnolia tree out back bloomed…and the dropped petals all over the yard. It was kind of pretty mixed with all the dandelions and other little flowers that sprout up in our yard. So colorful. We need to buy a lawn mower. The neighbor’s mint has started taking … Read more

February Break

I’ve never understood why some school !have February breaks. It’s too cold to go out, and it means that spring break has to be moved later so it doesn’t coincide with Easter. Plus it makes the school year end even later. Oh well, we have it, so we will make the best of it! The girls had quite a crazy day on Thursday. They came home with so much candy, and we still had left overs from Christmas! Then in the evening … Read more

Just a quicky

Just a quick post for you before I turn in for the night. Last week when my friend was over here (when I hurt my ankle,) she saw my stack o’ hats for my Max hat pattern, and asked if I could make her and her daughter a matching set.

So I picked up some sparklie pink and black yarn when I was finally able to go to the yarn store.

Deck the Halls

We have been rather far behind this year. We just put up the tree a few days ago.

Hopefully this is the last fake tree year. I really prefer real trees, but it wasn’t in the cards this year.

What a week!

Last week was quite long and short, all at once. Do you know what I mean?

Not quite what I wanted, but it will work

I started writing a wrap pattern at the beginning of October. It was beautiful in my head. Somewhere in the initial planning/math stages, something went awry. I think I tried to do too much. The pretty little picture was much more simple then what happened as I started writing.

So, in the end, I had something much more
